- Significance of appearance: The second chronological appearance of Peter Parker’s clone, who would come to be known as Ben Reilly and later the Scarlet Spider. Ben is hunted down and captured by his creator Prof. Miles Warren aka the Jackal with the help of the clone of Gwen Stacy, a former love interest to Peter Parker killed during a fight with the Green Goblin. Ben is unconscious for the last two pages of the story, but he is still the main character and primary focus. While this story was originally published as a flipbook feature to the issue’s main story in 1994, the story takes place just prior to the Spider-Man Clone’s first published appearance of Amazing Spider-Man #149 from 1975.
