30th Anniversary of Nova

The Nova Prime Page is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the man called Nova with a free star-studded fanzine in late February called Rocket Boosters.

It will include original content by Nova creator Marv Wolfman, New Warriors co-creator Tom DeFalco, New Warriors writer Fabian Nicieza, Nova writers Erik Larsen and Dan Abnett, Nova writer/artist Chris Marrinan, Annihilation editor Andy Schmidt, Mini-Marvels creator Chris Giarrusso, and artists Jim Lee, Fred Hembeck and more!

As if all of that isn’t enough of an incentive, I’ve also contributed something that I hope Nova and New Warriors fans will enjoy. So clear some space on your computer! You’re going to love this!

New Warriors starts in June? Cloak & Dagger search continues

Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada, in this week’s New Joe Fridays column at Newsarama, stated that “We’re looking at a June launch” for the new New Warriors series.

Also, when asked if we’ll see more of Cloak & Dagger, Quesada responded “I sure hope so. I’m still waiting for that Cloak and Dagger pitch that’s going to knock my socks off.”

There’s also a couple of new pages of Avengers: The Initiative that feature Justice.

New Warriors comics in April

Marvel Comics released solicitations for comics shipping in April. It’s a big month for #1’s for New Warriors fans, as Nova, the six-issue limited series of Loners and the six-issue limited series Avengers: The Initiative all debut. Meanwhile, Robbie Baldwin’s journey continues in Thunderbolts and Hulk and Power Pack gears up to its second issue. In the reprint department, Robbie’s journey as “The Accused” is represented in Civil War: Front Line Books 1 & 2, Nova’s classic Spider-Man crossover from the ’70s gets the black & white treatment (again) in Essential Spider-Man Volume 8, and Namorita’s mother Namora returns to the land of the living in the Agents of Atlas hardcover, which also includes Namora’s Golden Age first appearance from Marvel Mystery Comics #82.

Where’ve you been?

Two events seem to bring people together: weddings and funerals. In the past 2 weeks, I’ve experienced both my own wedding (or rather, a second wedding reception for our family and friends on the east coast) and the death of a good friend. It’s been a roller coaster.

But, I’m back home and will attempt to catch up on all the recent interviews and news and excitement.

In the meantime, I’ve got something for you, as thanks for your patience. Check out the next post.

Thank you for keeping the Warriors alive!

Cloak & Dagger in Spider-Ham one-shot

CBR News has posted a preview of new comics arriving in stores January 31. Cloak & Dagger appear on a panel of Ultimate Civil War: Spider-Ham #1 from what looks like the same Yancy Street Battle that was shown in Fantastic Four #539, Amazing Spider-Man #534 and Civil War: Choosing Sides. Not sure if this is in-continuity or not, as I always assumed Spider-Ham existed in his own reality.
