Nova & Cloak: Skrulls?

As a teaser image for next year’s Secret Invasion event, Marvel Comics today released an image by artist Ethan Van Sciver Leinil Francis Yu revealing a bunch of Marvel heroes as shape-shifting alien Skrulls in disguise. Among the line-up is Nova and Cloak.

As a teaser image, this should certainly be taken with a grain of salt, as it’s meant to stir conversation and not confirm or deny that a character is currently a Skrull. Such a reveal, and certainly this many high profile reveals, would be handled in an actual story and not a promotion piece.

Having said that, OH MY GOD! NOVA IS A SKRULL!

The art is by Leinel Francis Yu, actually. Van Sciver is a DC exclusive artist (and doing a terrific job on Green Lantern these days).

No way is Nova a Skrull, because, well… that makes no SENSE! And we were promised that the Skrull reveals would all make sense. I really believe that too. *cough*

In case anyone missed it, NW4#6 PbP is where I first called Sofia and Wondra as Skrulls. You heard it here first.

Thank you, fixed it. Don’t know why I made that mistake. Their styles aren’t even all that similar.

I guess their three names threw me. Sure, that’s it.

If Nova does have a Skrull counterpart and is involved in Secret Invasion (no sure thing considering Nova was on the Civil War promo piece and had nothing to do with CW), he probably was created years ago (he’s wearing the original uniform so that would put it at least pre-NW reality TV show) and has been in waiting to replace him.

Since Secret Invasion involves the Skrulls and perhaps a Nova Skrull, I wonder if Nova’s series will crossover with SI? Given Rich’s history with the Skrull in the Xandar/Skrull War and Annihilation, I wouldn’t be surprised.
