Added Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger

The 3-issue mini-series Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger has been added to the site. As you might imagine from the title of the comic, it’s a tie-in to the concurrently running Spider-Island event at the time. And as you might also imagine from the title, Cloak and Dagger star in the comic. Firestar also pops up for a cameo in the first issue. All 3 issues have been added to Limbo – Part 4 Phase Five.

This is the first comic with their name in the title since the 2010 Cloak and Dagger one-shot, and their first multi-issue series since the cancellation of Cloak and Dagger volume 3 in 1991. (That series started in 1988 with the title The Mutant Misadventures of Cloak and Dagger.)

SI-Cloak and Dagger 1 - Attack on Bryant Park

In relation to Spider-Island, this mini-series explains why Dagger vanishes from the group fight scenes after Amazing Spider-Man #667 and why Cloak appears in a white cloak in Amazing Spider-Man #672 (a detail I missed).

More specifically:

Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger #1 starts off with a 3-page flashback/montage of their origin and history. After that, Dagger appears for 13 pages and Cloak for 9 pages. Firestar shows up on 2 pages with no dialogue, she’s part of the other heroes helping out. The issue takes place during the events of Amazing Spider-Man #667. The first 10 pages take place before the heroes appear in Bryant Park in #667, then the rest of the issue is happening simultaneously with their battle with the spider-criminals. I don’t generally like splitting up a comic into separate entries but it’s what I’ve done here for now.

SI-Cloak and Dagger 1 - not actual mutants

Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger #2 starts off with a 3-page dream sequence featuring Dagger, who then appears in-story for another 14 pages. Cloak appears on 9 pages.

SI-Cloak and Dagger 2 - Mr Negative and Dagger wCloak

Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger #3 features Cloak on 13 pages and Dagger on 12 pages.

SI-Cloak and Dagger 3 - the kiss

Dagger is pretty wiped out, so it makes sense that she’s resting while Cloak rejoins with the other heroes for the conclusion of Spider-Island in Amazing Spider-Man #672. Exactly where she’s staying since they’re now homeless is a great question. Maybe they’re staying with the Future Foundation or the Avengers.

Next up: more Spider-Island tie-ins.

I've studied superheroes for most of my life. So who better to make some sense of it all?
