Added X-Men: Hellfire Gala

In June 2021, Marvel Comics released the Hellfire Gala event across the majority of the X-Men line. Unlike with most modern events, Hellfire Gala did not have a core mini-series, but was told entirely within tie-in issues supplemented by a single one-shot. Jubilee appeared throughout, and Stacy X, Wind Dancer, and Nova also had brief appearances. The central revelations and plot points were told in Marauders #21, X-Men vol. 5 #21, Planet-Size X-Men #1, and S.W.O.R.D. vol. 2 #6, which were reprinted in the collected edition X-Men: Hellfire Gala. Those issues and the remainder of the tie-in issues were reprinted in the collected edition X-Men: Hellfire Gala – The Red Carpet Collection.

Jubilee was appearing in Excalibur vol. 4 at the time of this event, hence her appearing so much in this event.

Stacy X appeared here for the first time since 2018’s Domino Annual #1, where it was revealed she hadn’t regained her mutant powers despite faking it in the 2008 mini-series Vengeance. Apparently she truly regained her mutant powers at some point between that 2018 story and here. The most likely explanation is that she was killed at some point since the founding of Krakoa and was resurrected with her powers.

Wind Dancer had recently been appearing in X-Factor vol. 4, where she was resurrected with her powers and had just been made ambassador to the Multiverse. She then joined X-Corp as their public relations manager.

Nova was appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, where he was leading the team to help the Galactic Council stabilize the galaxy.

In Marauders #21, Jubilee appeared on 1 page. On Mykines of the Faroe Islands, Jubilee was spotted mingling during cocktail hour as the Hellfire Gala officially began.

In X-Force vol. 6 #20, Jubilee appeared on 1 page. Some time after 9:30 PM, Jubilee was seen laughing with another guest.

In Hellions #12, Jubilee appeared on 2 pages. Shortly after 10:45 PM, Jubilee was again seen mingling with guests.

In Excalibur vol. 4 #21 (previously covered here), Jubilee appeared on 5 pages. At 9:30 PM, Excalibur arrived at the Hellfire Gala. Jubilee brought her date, her son Shogo. At 10:20 PM, Jubilee joined her teammates in congratulating Rogue on winning a spot on the new X-Men team. Soon after, she and Captain Britain tried to cheer up Rictor at the bar. At 11:00 PM, Jubilee and Rictor spied on a meeting between Clan Akkaba and representatives of the Quiet Council of Krakoa, Charles Xavier and Emma Frost. The Clan, represented by Britain’s new ambassador to the United Nations, Reuben Brousseau, announced that he was dissolving Great Britain’s alliance with Krakoa. They also declared ownership of the land surrounding the Braddock Lighthouse.

In X-Men vol. 5 #21, Jubilee appeared on 3 pages. At 10:15 PM, the selection of a new X-Men team began. Jubilee generated fireworks when Rogue was called as the first to be selected. At 11:35 PM, Jubilee was among the crowd present for Emma Frost’s closing remarks. She joined Emma Frost’s telepathic merging of minds so that all could witness the fireworks.

In New Mutants vol. #19, Jubilee appeared on 1 page. She was spotted on the Hellfire Gala Green Carpet as guests were arriving.

In X-Corp #2 (previously covered here), Wind Dancer did not appear but a document written by her was depicted. The document was a meeting schedule for Angel and Penance who were interviewing candidates for positions on the board of X-Corp. Wind Dancer included her thoughts and recommendations on each candidate.

In Wolverine vol. 7 #13, Jubilee possibly appeared on 1 page. What seemed like a Jubilee with miscolored hair was seen in the background during a scene set at 11:01 PM.

In S.W.O.R.D. vol. 2 #6, Nova appeared on 5 pages. Nova was the partial representative for Earth in the Galactic Council, a delegation of galactic representatives. They met on SWORD Station One (aka “The Peak”) at 1:00 AM following the terraforming of Mars into the Planet Arakko by Earth’s mutant nation Krakoa at the end of the Hellfire Gala. The meeting was led by Commander Abigail Brand, who revealed to the Galactic Council the creation of a new metal called mysterium as a new resource available to Council members whose planets or empires acknowledged Arakko as the capital planet of the Sol System. Nova pushed back at not being notified at these dramatic plans, but Brand and Frenzy pointed out that he was not around during the recent attempted invasion of Knull. Doctor Doom interrupted the meeting and demanded to know the ruler of the new planet, and Brand introduced Storm as the Regent of Arakko.

In Way of X #3, Stacy X appeared on 10 pages. Stacy X was caught by Nightcrawler giving out contraceptives to Krakoans still partying the next morning after the Hellfire Gala. Stacy X brought Nightcrawler to The Bower, a place for those in Krakoa to safely have intimate experiences. She had also begun to shelter the abandoned babies of Krakoa. A mutant named Lost was helping her care for them. As Stacy X and Nightcrawler debated whether what Stacy X was doing conflicted with the first rule of Krakoa, make more mutants, Lost became possessed by Onslaught and began attacking one of the Bower’s patrons, Fabian Cortez. Soon, Legion arrived with Pixie, Xorn, and Zorn, and they all helped chase Onslaught off. Later at the Green Lagoon, Stacy X continued her argument to Nightcrawler that for Krakoa to excel as its own society, they’re going to have to break the patterns of the past and break down the barriers between each other.

In X-Factor vol. 4 #10, Jubilee appeared on 1 page. Jumping back to 9:04 PM during the Gala, Jubilee mingled with Kyle and let him hold Shogo, which possibly explains where Shogo went for most of her cameo appearances during the Gala.

Most of the issues can be read in roughly any order since they’re all looking at different aspects and perspectives of one day. The order above was what Marvel published on their website as the recommended reading order and probably works best since each issue roughly ends progressively later into the night and into the next day. Nova’s appearance here, which was written by Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 6 writer Al Ewing, fit perfectly between Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 6 #15 and 16. All issues were added to Phase Five of Limbo Part 6.
